Miles Burk
Miles Burk is just starting on the Suite101 staff, where he is currently focused on writing articles in the category of ancient military history. Most of his historical knowledge comes from independent reading, but he has also taken his fair share of university-level history courses. A particularly-enthusiastic student of medieval and military history, he is also an avid participant in the Belegarth Medieval Fighting Society.
In addition to the western martial arts emulated by the Belegarth organization, Miles' interest in millitary matters has led him to receive some very limited training from the U.S. Army National Guard in modern weapons and tactics, and train in some eastern martial arts. Though not an expert of any combat system, he has solid knowledge of how the experts have operated throughout history.
After he finishes a technical degree and secures stable income, Miles plans on returning to Indiana University, and finishing degrees in history and journalism.
